WORKS HARD TO GUARD THE RIGHTS OF INJURED WORKERS

Laura Chiyono Rosenthal has been with Meechan Rosenthal Karpilow, P.C. since September 2013. Her compassionate advocacy for injured workers is grounded in three prior decades of practical legal experience. Ms. Rosenthal began working in the field of law while she was in college, as a legal typist in a secretarial “pool.” She’s also worked as a paralegal, a private investigator, and a law librarian.

Ms. Rosenthal is a certified specialist in workers’ compensation law. In addition to her workers’ compensation practice, she represents government employees in matters related to disability retirements.

EDUCATION & COURT ADMISSIONS

Ms. Rosenthal earned her undergraduate degree in Psychology from the University of Denver. She then earned her Juris Doctorate at the University of Denver Sturm College of Law. Ms. Rosenthal is licensed to practice law in all California Courts and the United States District Court for the Northern District of California.

LEADERSHIP, MEMBERSHIP & HONORS

The daughter of a teacher, Ms. Rosenthal inherited a lifelong passion for learning and education. She is an adjunct professor of law at Empire Law School. Ms. Rosenthal holds memberships with the California Bar Association, Sonoma County Bar Association (SCBA) and California Applicants’ Attorneys Association (CAAA). Ms. Rosenthal serves on the Board of Directors of CAAA and is co-chair of CAAA’s Women’s Caucus Committee. Ms. Rosenthal is a member of SCBA’s Archives Committee and serves as an arbitrator for SCBA’s Fee Arbitration Program. She volunteers as a panel attorney for the Aids Legal Referral Panel and acts as the attorney advisor for the Santa Rosa Police Foundation. Ms. Rosenthal was recently appointed by the California Lawyers’ Association to serve as a member of the Workers’ Compensation Section Executive Committee.

When she is not practicing law, teaching, or volunteering, Ms. Rosenthal enjoys reading, yoga, cooking, hiking, and spending time with her family, friends, and a very large shoe collection.
